okay i guess i have been owing this blog too much.so lets turn back the clock too....thursday.
woke up late + dint feel like training so, CONTINUE SLEEPING! yay. all the way till 10. thats 4 hours of sleep i wouldn't have gotten if i trained.
and nothing much happened after that.
friday! went shopping at vivo with my mum. bought a pair of levi's jeans and a levi's shirt. and finally flipflops from ripcurl. cant believe jasper bought the same design. zz.
saturday! had my first training in forever and i must say i have slowed a lot. 12km + a run.
so anyway after that we were off to bathe and eat at leons house. we were seriously taking our time before we realised it was 12. (time we were supposed to meet: 12)
so we chionged down to vivo, reaching at 1, then, sentosa! started of screwing around on the hot sand, exclaiming "**** its damn hot! shit!" and throwing the frisbee at people. the soccer court soon got free so we went to play. (in socks) it was quite fun despite the mini sandstorm we created and the difficulty of playing in sand. some nsk's with their shirts off challenged us to 3v5. we were freaking scared to lose so we picked our best 5 and we owned them. but then they got 2 more then we lost like shit. heh. oh well. fun! we attempted to play volleyball and frisbee but didnt really accomplish much. soon it was getting too hot so we jumped into the salty dirty sea ;D whatever, it was for the fun of it. we had some spoilers like jasper and wang who didnt want to go in, but eventually team sea won! then another failed attempt at a game, water polo-captains ball -.-
after showering it was back to vivo to eat and then watch eagle eye!
ok hmm this post is long. anyway..
so back to school and training on monday. school is pretty much slack nowadays. with talks and free periods and soccer. but training is getting tough. tuesday was an absolute killer. especially without warm down. and thursday really removed any hope of recuperation.
so anyway. results were yesterday. did rather well considering i didnt study much. 70.2% for the whole year, 37 points.
with the final academic burden off our backs, it was off to peninsular today to lan! (we lost all 3 games but who cares) fun! joke team ftw.

im in a half happy half not so happy mood now.but since we are all so positive people, lets just focus on the bright side! (cause im mr. brightsidee)
thursday.
the first thing that enters most canoeists' minds when they awake on a thursday morning is. "ah ****, training"
which was exactly what happened today. so i dragged my lazy ass all the way to the dreaded chin up bar at mac ritchie, every cell in my body not looking forward to the running that was coming.
but lo and behold! NO RUNNING. unless you are one of us, you will never know the joy and ecstasy that comes with those 2 simple words.
so actually, that really made my day. plus the fact its a whole day of fun tomorrow.
on a separate note, 5x2km training reallyy sucks.
i fell asleep within 3 minutes of lying on my bed. its that bad. i studied a little today. too little. because i am too darn lethargic and secondly cause of some stuff thats preoccupying my mind the whole day.
but lets not care about the bad stuff! they only serve to bring our moods down. but then again not caring about everything is kind of detrimental. ah oh well all that matters is that we are in a jovial mood.
from my perspective anyway.
pictures ;D as promised.

so adam finished second, 0.4 seconds behind ken wallace. tim brabants 0.04 seconds behind.ah well, silver isn't gold, but at least he was able to pull himself together after the devastating 1000m on friday.

From uh. CBC Olympics website.
'"I just didn't have it," a distraught van Koeverden told CBC Sports after the race. "It's a hell of a time not to have it. It's the worst 1000 metres I have put together in years."
He paused for a moment then looked directly at the CBC television camera recording the interview. "I'm sorry," he said, addressing viewers. "I don't know what to say, I'm pretty speechless right now."
"I planned on sitting behind Tim [Brabants], just off his shoulder and using his pace and then popping him at the end. He had a very strong pickup at the 500 and I countered it, went with him a little while and then people just started blowing past me and I couldn't handle it.""
Van Koeverden clocked a timing of 3:31.793
ah well. everyone has their offdays. and theres still his speciality 500m tmr. hopefully he wins!
my tuition teachers gonna be late for an hour T.T

so it has been a busy 4 weeks. from rushing history in week 6 to chionging jian baos in week 7 and cramming l.arts, physics, math, IHS and whatnot recently.and now its week 9 and the stress is still here, albeit less. 3 days of borrowing, doing and lastly
cant wait for the weekend
so anyway besides hectic school life, there have been, of course, the Olympics. First highlight is, without doubt, the table tennis womens. Sure we got trashed by China but oh well, silver looks nicer than gold. and a medal looks better than none. well done team Singapore!
secondly. the canoing races have started! Adam van koeverden once again proved himself by coming in first in his heats. 3.29 for 1000m and 1.35.55 (a new world record) for 500m.
missed the semis today but all the pros straight finals anyway. no kick anymore. oh which reminds me, time to go check the slowest k4 timing and look at their videos. and maybe get inspired and start running 10km every morning....maybe.
training has been rather rollercoaster-like too. but at least i can see myself improving now. only in the slightest bit, but improving nonetheless. time to train harder than ever, yes.
ok i need to get back to work.

i cant take it anymore.where did all my will go? and my determination. my refusal to be overtaken. my goals. my mental strength. my physical strength.
they seem to have gone just like that.
its not as if i dont want to push. every single training, i tell myself, Derek, stop fooling around, you gotta start pushing.
but when i go on the water i just cant seem to find the strength. and while im stuck in stagnating land. everyone else seems to be gaining on me.
are they all off days? i assure myself that after each training. but i know, they arent.
"this isnt the Derek i know."
indeed, i dont recognize myself anymore
"im fine with the way it is"
am i, really? being average at everything and never being able to excel. being all-rounded has its pros, i agree. but sometimes it just feels like there won't be anything I'd be the best in. or even close.
maybe its just the way im built. maybe its the way i do things. maybe its the way i think. whatever it is. i hate it.
i hate the way some people are just all the way up there.
i hate the way i try so hard but achieve nothing.
i hate the way im always average.
i hate it. i hate it. i hate it.
i don't know whats wrong with me. tell me what to do.
and you, you are one of the few things keeping me from breaking down.

why, this week has been slack. i have only attended 4 hours of MUN.and helping out at nationals is kind of fun. so anyway, we have been doing rather well, all our boats getting into the finals. (right?)
so anyway finals are tomorrow and i wanna just wish all those who are racing the best of luck. and if you lose, its okay, its the exposure. (yeah right you better win!) at least u are racing eh? burst!
and this has just been bugging me since, forever. what, exactly, is going on.

im going to make this a concise, 4 min worth of typing post.so this week was 'tapering'
which was pretty much normal training with a nicer name to deceive us into thinking it was going to be slacker.
oh well that aside, it was an eventful weekend.
friday was passion ac. the turnout was rather disappointing. not many ttb people went. but who cares, their loss. cause it was awesomee. the worship was great, the sermon by henson lim(or was it lee) was great.
saturday started off with - what else? -training.
it was actually quite tiring. plus, we had tackle games straight after that! mum fetched me to safra tampines, travelling 87km to and fro cause we got lost.
ANYWAY. the people there were damn on. esp the malay faith acts people. what with shin guards and high socks and jerseys and all. while we went there with only two people with boots and wearing shirts of a different colour each.
we could confuse every team! ;D
so anyway we lost 2 drew 1 won 1. what a spread eh.
and we got 4th! shh im not telling u how many teams there were.
nor the score.
so anyway. we missed the bus to fmc and mrt-ed to je to eat the 'orange store' where the ice lemon tea was WAY too sweet and jangs food sucked.
bus-ed home.
and i had two tuitions in two days.
oh shits. way over 4 minutes. byebye.
